I felt tired today.
It was a full day.
I managed to hit some heavy lifts during my workout and spent time with people I am intentionally investing in.
By most standards, it was a productive day.
But strangely, the biggest realization I had wasn’t about my workout, my goals, or any of the things I originally planned.
It was about the accessory events of life.
The things that aren’t part of the agenda.
The things that happen in between.
Small conversations.
Unexpected moments.
Random chitchat.
Shared laughter.
The little grains of sand that make up a day.
As a physiotherapist, we often talk about accessory movements.
People focus on the big movements because they’re obvious.
But underneath those movements are smaller supporting actions that make everything possible.
Without them, the bigger movement doesn’t happen well.
And maybe life works the same way.
We tend to focus on the major goals.
The milestones.
The achievements.
The things we can measure.
But perhaps the accessory moments deserve more attention than we give them.
Today, I didn’t make much progress on my personal agenda.
At least not in the way I normally define progress.
But the people around me felt happier.
More empowered.
More supported.
And somehow, that felt important.
Important in a way that’s difficult to quantify.
It reminded me that not all meaningful progress looks like forward motion.
Sometimes progress looks like presence.
Sometimes it looks like listening.
Sometimes it looks like giving your time to someone who needs it.
And perhaps those moments quietly move life forward more than we realize.
Today also felt unusually clean.
Calm.
There was an absence of internal stress.
And I think I know why.
Lately, I’ve stopped forcing my way through life.
I’ve stopped trying to control every outcome.
I’ve stopped insisting that things unfold according to my timeline.
Instead, I’ve become more open to whatever arrives.
The good.
The bad.
The expected.
The unexpected.
And the more I do that, the lighter I feel.
As much as I want life to stay comfortable, I know it can’t.
Things need to move.
Things need to evolve.
Growth requires motion.
But strangely, I no longer feel the need to dictate the direction.
The more I let go, the more I feel like life is pulling me somewhere I never planned.
Somewhere I never imagined.
And somehow, I have a growing sense that it may be exactly where I need to go.
The best way I can describe it is this:
It feels like space is being created.
Space for a fuller life.
Space for new experiences.
Space for the renaissance life I’ve been trying to build.
So for now, I will continue following where the path leads.
One conversation.
One moment.
One accessory event at a time.
And even if I never arrive at the destination I originally imagined for myself, I think I would still be happy.
Because wherever God is leading me, I trust there is something there worth discovering.
