Lately I’ve been noticing something.
Every interaction feels like a clue.
A signal.
A small window into how people move through the world.
And somewhere inside me there’s this itch.
The kind that whispers,
“dang… let’s go shake things up.”
Not out of anger.
Out of hope.
Because every observation feels like another piece of the puzzle.
The more I pay attention to people, the more I realize something simple.
Most of us naturally begin with ourselves.
How do I feel?
What do I need?
What does this mean for me?
And if I’m honest…
I’m no different.
I’ve caught myself doing the exact same thing.
That’s why I don’t think this is something to judge.
I think it’s something to understand.
Because maybe the doorway to changing people isn’t convincing them to care about what matters to us.
Maybe it’s first caring about what matters to them.
People rarely open their hearts because we have good arguments.
They open them because they feel understood.
That realization hit me harder than I expected.
Perhaps selflessness isn’t about disappearing.
It isn’t about abandoning yourself.
And it isn’t about endlessly sacrificing until nothing is left.
Perhaps it’s something quieter.
The willingness to temporarily place another person’s world before your own.
To let them eat first.
Knowing your own seat at the table still exists.
That changes everything.
Because suddenly every conversation becomes less about winning.
And more about understanding.
Less about being heard.
More about hearing.
Maybe that’s how change actually begins.
Not with louder voices.
But with deeper listening.
Then something else surfaced.
Completely unrelated.
Or maybe not.
Lately, I feel strangely adrift.
Not lost.
Just… being pulled.
My body craves texture.
Clay beneath my fingertips.
Freshly brewed coffee.
The smell of browned butter.
Cookies that melt onto someone’s tongue and become part of their memory.
Conversations that leave people lighter than when they arrived.
I don’t just want ideas anymore.
I want tangible things.
Things that can be touched.
Built.
Shared.
Lived.
We don’t only shape the things we create. They quietly shape us in return.
And beyond all of that…
I keep feeling that life is much larger than the version I’ve been living.
Almost as if there are entire landscapes waiting beyond the horizon.
People I haven’t met.
Skills I haven’t learned.
Places I haven’t stood.
Versions of myself I haven’t grown into.
I don’t feel the urge to conquer them.
Only to discover them.
One step at a time.
One conversation at a time.
One creation at a time.
Maybe this is what freedom actually feels like.
Not having every answer.
But having enough curiosity to keep walking.
So I will continue.
Continue listening.
Continue creating.
Continue following the quiet invitations life keeps placing in front of me.
And wherever they lead, I trust there will be something beautiful waiting.
I thank God for this life.
